Re: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Wiglewifi...

I just started using the app yesterday. :) I love the sounds for networks, but I can't seem to find which one means what. I've heard a higher-pitched 'blip' as well as a lower one. Is one for "found network" and one for "found open network"?

Re: NEPA, Northeast & Central Pennsylvania

Long time absent! I was pondering wardriving as with my current job I now have a Samsung Galaxy Tab with wi-fi and GPS. I search for "wardriving" on the market, and much to my surprise there's a WiGLE app! Only been at it for two days, but I'll probably be submitting a LOT more data now, as well as ...

Hadn't really thought of LiveCDs. I think think about DSL in QEMU, but didn't think it would work well running through QEMU.

I've got a 160 GB drive in my work laptop, and a spare 40 GB now. I'm going to *NIX the 40 GB probably this weekend and see what I get.

It wasn't that I lost lock; just that I left work and was moving at 35 mph with an OLD GPSr....it doesn't lock very fast, and it was foggy + cloudy which I'm sure didn't help; nor did trying to lock at that speed. But I didn't want to be late for work because "I was waiting on my GPSr to lock on ...

Picking them up on the interstate a block away will make perfect circles based on when you first/last saw them. These circles will be pretty inaccurate as to each APs actual coverage. I understand what you are saying. Most of it I knew, but was kind of ignoring, figuring that the implementation ...

I wish I could, but these are ones that belong to work - so I can't really mod them at the moment.

I've got a spare HDD for my laptop that I think I'm gonna throw Solaris on for kicks; I may put a different distro of Linux on it and start Kismetting relatively soon.

Hahaha, no. It just means you're one of us "special people." I do plan to try and step up my searching and to really grid down Berwick pretty well with a buddy of mine. Maybe I'll grab a spare HDD at work and push linux on it for my laptop - so that I can just swap drives to change OSes. I can ...

No, they're USB cards. If I had a serial to USB, I could Kismac with my Powerbook G4, but I don't have that critter. No spare monies at the moment either - we just had our second daughter born a month ago.

Heh, call me spoiled. I like my 'leaderboards' on Xbox LIVE; you can jump to the top of the list ('page 1'), or jump to your location. :P

Deprecated APs - processing?

What happens with old points that were found, but are no longer active? Do they get weeded out, or do they just sit forever?

Sorry, my brain was being curious.... :?:

FREE COM multiplexer software!

So I wanted to run multiple adapters to wardrive, but the only laptop I have with a serial port is Windows XP. This limits me to NetStumbler, which only supports one adapter at a time. I can run multiple copies of NetStumbler, yes, but only one gets the GPS feed. That's no good, so I went digging ...

Lots of Updates

So I did my first 'official' multi-card drive this morning - using Windows and netstumbler - WITH GPS ON ALL THREE INSTANCES OF NETSTUMBLER! I found a free virtual serial port emulator that split my COM1 GPS feed virtually on COM7. Set all instances of NS to COM7, and all three had co-ordinates! I ...
