So i was out driving today. Saw a couple need SSID's, one was "Halls of Eisenguard".

But one caught my due to its humor value. It was "CallMe <phone number> OrIWillLockYouOut"

I guess hes sick of being leeched by a neighbor :)

leavemealone
mcse_dontscrewwithme
DamnCiscoSucks

Many with not-random unprintable ascii chars
Many quite un-appropriate for a forum. Including references to inbreeding. Found lots of those in Omaha Nebraska. (Not saying that I didn't find them elsewhere! I have nothing against Nebraska-ians. In fact, that was quite the nice city.)

WardriversKeepDriving (No wep, broadcasting, open DHCP)

I live in a little town called Olathe, KS. I guess it's not that little, but it's a typical suburb. The city's IT staff thought that in order to "hide" the SSID, they could put a $ at the end (like hiding windows file shares).

OLATHEPD$
OLATHEWATER$

Oddly enough, they're not the only ones. A local apartment complex (The Dunes at St. Andrews - www.thedunes.org ) provides WiFi for residents and their SSID's are like the following, among others, again with $ at the end as if that helps hide the SSID:

BridgeTheDune$
TheDune1Dollar$

some others I've seen that discourage stumblers:

UnwelcomeMat
****Off (the F word)
AssociateNDie
noneshallpass

...turned up "billgatesmolestscollies"
please note, this does not necessarily reflect the views of of the WiGLE team. we'll happily deny all refernces to canine-preferences of major software moguls for modest multiples of $1M.

for the record: what you do is your own business, but WiGLE supports net-hugging ONLY as a passive hobby from the network side of things.
look but don't touch, please.

l@rry65173911099529256800x193

651 and 952 are MN area codes...people really don't comprehend that it takes only two searches to get an ADDRESS and NAME and a business name/address from this stuff, do they?

Gotta add that to my 'how to do wifi smart, you dork' write up ;-)
