Is there a way to export data from wigle? Possible a CSV file or something. I want to make a big map of all the networks i discovered with mappoint, and i would like to use the locations that wigle has calculated.

Anyone else want this?

You can use the Musatcha.com WiFi Mapping Engine to do this. http://www.musatcha.com. I've still got it in alpha though, right now I'm working on a db driven release, so please ignore the crappiness :-).

Is there a way toexport only the networks i discovered, and to export all of them, regardless of where they are.

This wont export only the networks i discovered though. Mayhaps Wigle could add an option to save a query instead of viewing it in the browser http://wigle.net/gps/gps/GPSDB/query/
This should be simple enough to do.

Why not add the ability to show all networks you have seen/discovered, even if you were not the first to discover it. Ability to export this would be really great, and not just count by county, all exporting of all wireless networks the user has discovered.

someone please help me with this.

its just not something we do right now.
you can get that information on a per-mappack basis, and make any modifications you want to the JiGLE client source, that's what its there for :-)

Working on per-user queries in the next release. The problem is though is getting networks that a user has seen. This information is not in the wigle.net database.... only the user who found. Local data would also have to be referenced. (working on this as well)

So it's internal? It must be generating the "All Networks Recorded" stat somehow.

Bobzilla or uhtu will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that all networks recorded in the stats is nothing but a number, added to everytime you upload new data.

I am neither Bobzilla nor uhtu (I'm actually the previous Guest and this posting will reveal me), but I decided to test this theory by comparing Personal Stats before/after with the Transaction values; new discovered vs all recorded, of course.
  • Before: 2151/3895
  • Upload: 3/41
  • After: 2154/3920
I did cover some new and old (to me) territory in downtown Seattle, so the Upload numbers seem fine, and 41 does indeed match the .NS1. But the difference, 3920 minus 3895, is 25 and not 41.

Maybe it's just my account - if someone else could try it...

i'm not bobzilla, but i have been called worse things.

its just not practical for us to provide this particular export right now
with the resources we have at our disposal.

if and when it does become doable, we will look into doing it.
