Los Angeles and Orange County mappacks corrupted

lately i've been seeing the java process that generates the mappacks has been crashing with VM errors. I've tried doing different things to try to make it stop doing that, but haven't been successful. I've filed a bug on sun's java bug parade, and i'll continue trying to find something that makes it stop crashing. For now i delete any corrupted mappacks i find.
