I would like to know how the vector base map packs are created. Any information you have on them would be great, as I would like to create my own vector maps for the State of New Jersey.

NJDOT offers GPS-ed county and state highways in a shapefile format. I'd like to merge that with the Tiger/Line based data and other open data sources to clean up the accuracy of the road network.

Thanks in advance.

Also, how can I sign in to the forums so I can use the same name as my WiGLE account?

The forums automatically are registered with your name and password from wigle. Unfortunately you have to sign into both independently cuz i don't have them respecting each other's cookies.

The MapTrees are created using mysterious herbs and spices from the Tiger data in a BSP fashion.

BSP? Like this? http://www.vrsource.org/~kevin/bsp/

Am I stuck making raster maps only?

Also, I tried logging in with and without a cookie set from the main portion of the site. No luck.

Thanks for your quick reply.

cookies are not shared.
you will have to log into the site and into the forum.
you can use the same username/password for both, however.

the code to parse the vector maps is found in the JiGLE source,
motivated parties can probably back out most of the secret
sauce ingredients from there.

Thanks. I'll check that out.

Is there any repository for user-created raster packs?

Nope, most likely we wouldn't have the rights to redistribute their contents anyway.

Might not be a bad idea to maybe have a links section to users who have created mappacks, as there's several, especially internationally. Hmmmm, this sounds like something for the wiki, maybe I'll do some googling and stick something up later.
