I think you need to add another entry on the poll.

> I run a passive scanner (eg. Kismet) that doesn't advertise it's MAC address.

BSD Airtools is also passive, but I still change it while scanning. Especially if I decide to associate if I find something interesting.

I sometimes use 00:0A:DE:AD:F0:01 or 00:0A:DE:AD:13:37 because 000ADE is the OUI for Happy Communication Co. Ltd. of Korea, which I just find amusing.

I run an RF MMDS preamplifier in line between the card and the antenna. Unlike a regular 802.11 RF amplifier which can pass RF bidirectionally, preamplifiers do NOT like being sent RF into the back end of them, it's a good way to blow the GaASFet in the unit. Thus, I don't run the card in transmit mode regardless.

I also use bsd airtools, and don't change my MAC, as I don't associate with or use networks I'm not authorized for.

I've got nothing to hide, if I spit out a packet, anybody that wants it can have it. I use kismet most of the time though so it doesn't matter.

Those are pretty good, but isn't 9 supposed to be g, not 6? It looks more like FABFABFABFABulous! lol

Postby NetBandit » Mon May 16, 2005 3:07 pm

i thought 6 looks like G. 9 looks like g... i went upper case because most things display MAC's in all caps.

Yeah spoofing the MAC is fun but if you are not attaching to the network (which is not what a wardriver does) then why bother?

Course I use the Mac address of my former boss's laptop
