HOW TO PROTECT YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK
Do you have a wireless computer network at your home or office? Did you know that if your wireless network is not properly protected, you could become a victim of a crime known as “war-driving?”
The term “war-driving” refers to a criminal armed with a wireless-enabled laptop computer who drives through neighborhoods and business parks to see if he can access unprotected and unencrypted wireless computer networks. If the criminal is successful in accessing a wireless network, he can hijack the Internet connection to send spam or download illegal materials, and he could view the private data on the victim’s network (financial documents, credit-card numbers, social-security numbers, etc.) and use that information to commit identity fraud.

<ElectricTurtle> What is a Firewall?
<ElectricTurtle> A firewall is either a software program or a piece of hardware that protects you from hackers by making your computer “invisible” while you are on the Internet.
<ElectricTurtle> thesaint: did you know that your firewall makes your computer INVISIBLE?!
<ElectricTurtle> it's like after your computer gets the quad core to do 4x the damage, it gets the firewall ring of invisibility and the lightning gun in the secret room and ... and ... jesus f'ing christ these people are dumb

More fear == more people who don't know any better throwing money at them. I wonder how they can live with zero integrity.
Hey people throw money at me to secure their wireless networks.
But I'm not running around spreading FUD

They are probably gunning for a career in politics later on...More fear == more people who don't know any better throwing money at them. I wonder how they can live with zero integrity.
Think about it : Al Gore invented the Internet, so having a Geek-on-call as a future National Information Technology Advisor is a definite possibility...

They seem to have changed their webpage, replacing wardriver with "WiFi-Hacker". The term wardriver still shows up on that page, but I applaud them for their efforts in correcting the error.

I'd hold my applause if I were you. Calling innocent people criminals is itself a crime in most jurisdictions, and their previous wording was a libel suit waiting to happen. There's a good chance that the motivation for change was not honor, but one of the requirements in a six-figure settlement. They seem to have changed their webpage, replacing wardriver with "WiFi-Hacker". The term wardriver still shows up on that page, but I applaud them for their efforts in correcting the error.
more like a witch hunt to promo more work.
