The growth of wireless access-points is till phenomenal. With current prices nearing the point where you can get one free with a box of laundry detergent, people will keep buying them because it is cheaper, easier and faster than laying network cables for your broadband connection.Sometime arround January 23, 2006 WiGLE broke the 5 million barrier and now less than 6 months later we have passed the SEVEN Million mark. Between December 2004 and July 2006, the number of wireless networks visible from within my house rose from 0 to 20. Quite a growth. And yes, I have had problems with other access-points on the same channel.
It never will, wifi is just a passing fad, much like tamagotchis, it'll all be forgotten by this time next year.
Bah Hum Bug. They also said that after WWWDII. If anything truly kills it, gas prices will but I don't see any slowdown yet.It never will, wifi is just a passing fad, much like tamagotchis, it'll all be forgotten by this time next year.
I've given up WiFi for lent this year. Using nylon fishing wire and two tin cans will be the new standard. Makes it so much more interesting going around town. I hope Wigle will make stats possible on how many people is tripping over the nylon fishing lines. Would be great if it could be split up in "tripped people" and "broken limbs".

Careful not to hold it too high or you'll lop off heads as you go by. Could be extra points though.I've given up WiFi for lent this year. Ooooo, can you do WPA2 over that, or do you need to upgrade to premium co-polymer line to handle the encryption?I've given up WiFi for lent this year. Using nylon fishing wire and two tin cans will be the new standard.
If you got some of this line you could do color maps of your collision domains just by leaving the line lay on the ground

who gave up lent for lent a number of years back, and has had significant success not falling off the wagon...
You have to be sure to watch out for those pesky free loaders, they can really bog down your network.I've given up WiFi for lent this year. It can be done with standard kite string, but you will need to find some acoustic couplers that can handle the numerous terabytes of data and bandwidth of Dutch's porn collection.Ooooo, can you do WPA2 over that, or do you need to upgrade to premium co-polymer line to handle the encryption?I've given up WiFi for lent this year. That's it.. You are officially off the picture distribution list, and your IP has been blocked on the 24/7 AVI streaming server. I think steel cord with modified wok's at each end would be a better solution. Better bandwith from the better conductors. Ability to tune by focusing. Security sucks tho as anyone with vise grips can tap in. And its still line of sight. Im thinking it might be like 10 baud or so. Based on having to place a peizo on each end to convert the binary into an analog signal. Serious power consumption with the power supply needed with long distance travel. When you get discovered by your wife cheating on her in Skype she only needs to follow the highly visible trail leading to the other end.
