Hello,

I'm from company Omnisdata. We have Adobe Flash based mapping technology flashNavigator (http://www.flashnavigator.net/)

I'm personally also a key contributor at NAVTEQ Network For Developers where I'm writing articles about ways of utilizing our technology.

I'm in process of writing an article for NAVTEQ community about creating a geospatial web application. I came across WiGLE and I got an idea about using flashNavigator to display WiGLE data. We already have a NAVTEQ map of Chicago and I'm hoping to do my project with WiGLE data for that area.

So I'm asking here for a permission to use WiGLE data in such project. I think that this could bring more attention to WiGLE and if integration between flashNavigator and WiGLE data goes well we are open to support WiGLE with our technology.

Cheers,

Dino

as always, use of WiGLE and WiGLE.net data is subject to the EULA ( http://wigle.net/eula.html ).

uhtu thank you for your prompt reply.

Yes, I've read the EULA.

So considering the paragraph bellow there is no way of doing my project with WiGLE data. Is there possibility for an exception? My article is just a proof of concept. There are no commercial and non-commercial aspects of the project.

If there is no way of using WiGLE data could someone suggest me where I could get some similar sample data for Chicago. Thanks.

Dino

I've browsed a bit through forum and as I figured it out I can use WiGLE in my project as long as visitors on my site enter their own WiGLE credentials for usage in queries on WiGLE database.

If that is ok I'll go along with my project and WiGLE data.
I'll inform you when I publish it online.

the EULA covers the uses that we are comfortable with, if you can't fit what you want to do into that, then we probably didn't want you doing it :-)

not all uses will fit with that, and we're very comfortable with that as well.

Ok :) So to make things simpler...

In my project I would like to make WiGLE data available on our map of Chicago. The website will be publicly available for free but the WiGLE data will be available only if visitor enters his own WiGLE credentials that will be used to query WiGLE database. In that case each visitor that uses our website must have their own WiGLE login to see WiGLE data. I think that this is ok with EULA.

Please could you confirm this. Thanks.

that is the approach that has been used previously by other projects.
note that we do not currently have a supported API, things may change unexpectedly.
