I just did a drive for the first time and am exploring the data on google maps.. need some explaination...

among the majority of WEP and WPA... some devices are being listed as

*WPS capable, unsecured
*UMTS capable, unsecured
*EDGE capable, unsecured

and a lot of unsecured spots where no capabilities were listed at all ?

what could these devices be ?

wps is a setup feature for wireless devices
UMTS and EDGE are a type of cellular connection.

they could be cellular mobile hotspots.

just a guess.

Edit: or they could be mobile phones with wireless device connections.
