odd "Link to this map" behavior

I should learn patience I guess... it seems to have fixed itself, though I do notice an odd behavior of the "Link to this map" option.

If I'm looking at this view....
a section of NY State, and then zoom in one step and click "Link to this map" again, it bumps me back out to the larger area view again. If I zoom one one more step I can creat a link to that map, but not the intermediate one.

Subject: Link to tiger maps may be malfunctioning.
I happened to reload a map that I was looking at couple of hours ago and now the map area is a series of broken image marks. Is the Tiger data cached locally or is it pulled for each draw request?

To make this a little more findable, I zoomed all the way out, call that Level 0. and zoomed in to Level 7. I can create a "Link to this map" point there. If I zoom in one more time to Level 8 and click "Link to this map" I then get bumped back up to the Level 7 view. If I zoom in to Level 9, I can once again create a successful "Link to this map" point.

Clear as mud?

it guesses a zoom level based on the lat/long in the link and the size of the browser window, so depending on circumstances it may round in a different direction.
