I am doing a project for my undergraduate senior thesis (computer science). The project involves a mapping service that I have integrated with a meta data tool. The tool allows any public user to add data to our site (http://rmms-space1.ad.uiuc.edu/website/ ... viewer.htm). The site is then viewable through our map or through a google maps view. The site is for Illinois only.

I would like to integrate the Illinois data from WiGLE into our site. To do this I would have to import mappack data to my site. It is non-commercial and the data will not be downloadable in any way.

Is this possible? I would use the 'API' that is available but I keep reading about how it's not a real API and will not be stable.

To clarify - my main problem is that I don't know how to use the .geo and .meta data. I imagine this is intentional but is it possible to extract or import those 2 files into an SQL database?

The .geo and the .meta files, doesn't contain any of the Wigle data for IL. These files contain the vectordata used in the vectorbased mappacks, for the roadmap. AFAIK, this vectordata comes from TIGER. TIGER to whatever geo-format converters, like forinstance Shapefile, are readily available, so using the original data from TIGER is possible, if it is the actual roadmaps you want to use on your webviewer.

The data stored in the WiGLE database, is downloaded based on locations in the mappack currently selected for display, by the DiGLE clients, and stored in CSV formatted .autocache files. These files are not county or mappack based, but based on Lat/lon boundingboxes.

If you want to plot the data from the WiGLE database, as downloaded by the JiGLE or DiGLE clients, in a webbased viewer, I think you are on the bounds of violating the EULA, since it is akin to revending the data EVENTHOUGH you are not talking about doing this in a commercial setting. The Wigle Founding Fathers (uhtu, bobzilla and arkasha) can be contacted by PM, and they might be able to allow you to do so.
