if you are talking about the tmobile accesspoints, they are all interconnected to the tmobile network and use a proxy server for authentication, with your "paid" user/password
it is connected to the public internet as you can ping websites and get back their actuall ip addresses, so in theory if you use a public web proxy server that might do it
