Capability flags and bitrates
Hi everybody! I'm working with wigle for my dissertation, and I have stumbled upon the capability flags returned by the queries. My question is: can I get the AP supported bitrates from the capabilities? I don't seem to understand the format and the only information I found about it is this: "802.11 capability flags as formatted by NetStumbler". What I would like to do is to determine what version of the protocol the AP is using (802.11a/b/g/n). It's not a showstopper for my project, but it wold be nice to be able to do that.
Found some info in the Netstumbler FAQ:

There appears to be a few links out on the web to the 802.11b specifications too.
From a quick scan, it doesn't look like this provides the information you are looking for. Maybe there are extensions in later g/n/ac revisions?

A little info on the Dot11 wiki as well http://dot11.info/index.php?title=Chapt ... ent_framesThe flag field contains the 802.11 capability information in hexadecimal. It's documented in section 7.3.1.4 of the 802.11b spec. To save you having to go and look, the bits are: 0001 ESS ("Infrastructure")
0002 IBSS ("Ad-Hoc")
0004 CF-Pollable
0008 CF-Poll Request
0010 Privacy ("WEP")
0020 Short Preamble
0040 PBCC
0080 Channel Agility
FF00 Reserved
