Non Alpha-Numeric chars showing up in queries

Suggestions for WiGLE/JiGLE/DiGLE

Seems to be some funky data out there for SSIDs occasionally. Check out a query for 00:40:96:56:bb:43. Is this legal in 802.11, or should WiGLE be filtering this out?

if you look at the spec, section 7.3.2.1 explains the SSID.
there's no such thing as an invalid SSID if its 0-32 octets long.

We're still curious as to wtf those are tho. Some manufacturer's sekrit code or ???
This presents a problem. What happens when somebody throws a bunch of ~ in their SSIDs? That's when WiGLE is screwed. Time for a fixed length SSID.

actually: nothing.
despite his funny accent, bobzilla really is quite clever.
have fun though :-)
<izzy4505> uhtu, whadayamean ~ won't screw up queries
<izzy4505> What if I got creative and called it linksys~comment~name~BBS~Y~N
<izzy4505> no way you'd be able to distinguish that from real data
--> hratch (~hratch@201.denver-06rh15rt.co.dial-access.att.net) has joined #wigle
<izzy4505> No way for JiGLE or any client to know whether or not the extra ~'s are in there from the comment, or SSID
<izzy4505> time for a new file format :)

Don't mind me, I got to thinking about ways to get by with that today, lol. Just ignore my mindless ramblings/rants.
