I have a new (to me) Galaxy s5, took a while to get used to Android again but well worth it. One quirk I run into is a place I go to once a week has free wifi -you get directed to their page to "connect" and in a minute you're on (click "done". That was with my Iphone 5. Now when I go there my wifi asks to connect and when I approve i get a "chrome" screen and nowhere to "connect".
My wifi says I'm "on" but after a minute I'm "off". I still use 4g so no bfd. Most other places I go I can get on with no problem.

check your notifications - there's usually a "log in to <wifi net name>" pending that you can tap (or maybe things are just broken).
