map troubleshooting

So back in 2022 I mapped a bunch of locations when I was on vacation in Florida. Fast forward to 2024 and I have a new device. I made no new records since then. For some reason even though I only have only shown by me and 2022 configured, I see no icons for anything in Florida. I even imported all my user data and dbs on the app. Why isn't all my recorded locations showing up?

the map option in the client will download map overlay tiles - the equivalent of "found by me" on the web maps.

if you want to integrate your old observations in the android app, go to your "uploads" in the app and press the buttons with the green right sides and grey left sides, it will download those observations and add them to the local database.

Note: this isn't recommended - the fuller the local database gets. the slower your device becomes for network detection!

I cleared app data and now I'm seeing stuff for Florida however now all I'm seeing is a bunch of tiny colored dots instead of the clustered ones with numbers in em.' How do I get back to the clusters?

in the uploads list, have you scrolled all the way back to those transactions with transids starting "2022..." and clicked those buttons? it's a by-transaction process to import those locations to the local DB for now (it's not part of the batch import in the database tab, that just gets BSSIDs, not locations). If so, what do the buttons look like for those transactions now?

You can check these by visiting your uploads page on the site as well - if clicking the transaction ID results in a blank KML file, it can't sync to the client either.

Clearing app data fixed it and now I can only see a bunch of tiny colored dots except for where I am, which has the normal clustered number thing. How do I get that for everywhere?

what are you trying to accomplish?

The app is fundamentally for network detection and logging, not a data analysis platform. The clusters apply to recent observations, not downloaded data, and are meant to give you a sense of density.
The map tiles are the best way to look into the data around you.
