Counts of Vendor Level BSSID addresses

I would like to know if it would be possible to run a query where I would look for all discovered AP's which have the first 6 characters of the BSSID (MAC address) in common. (Basically a search on a partial MAC address).

I found a Xerox branded AP the other day "0000AA%" and wanted to know how many others have been found. Likewise, I found a Yamaha branded AP yesterday. A wi-fi stereo! Interesting.

Another thing I'd be interested in seeing is a table which would show counts of distinct discovered AP's by first 6 character MAC address. I'm interested in seeing how many vendors are actually running 802.11 equipment (for my own curiousity).

Does this make sense?

This is something i've been meaning to do for a while. kismet has a nice list of wifi vender prefixes, and there are lists of the rest as well. Would be a fun nightly stat.
